February 2020 NDAL League Courses

Following is a preview of the February 2020 courses and games for NDAL league play. February is the second month of the Winter series.

54X70 Games

The February game for the 54×70 Games league is a game called Beat the Clock. This is a modest variation, with simplified scoring, suitable for league play.

Briefing

This variation of Beat the Clock is played like numbered course. The course is divided into four quadrants, or quarters of the clock. The dog is required to begin with the tire (in either direction) to start time, and must do the tire before each quarter of the clock.

To summarize:

Begin with the tire
Run the first quarter of the clock (#1 to #3)
Do the tire again.
Run the second quarter of the clock (#4 to #6)
Do the tire again.
Run the third quarter of the clock (#7 to #9)
Do the tire again.
Run the final quarter of the clock (#10 to #12)

9 Cross the finish line.

Beat the Clock is scored Time, Plus Faults.

There will be no established course time for this variation.

50×70 Fast & Fun

Country Dream Agility Wins the Fall 2019 36×85 Fast & Fun series

Country Dream placed second in December; but held on for a first-place finish in the Fall series. Congratulations Country Dream Agility!

Top Dog

The top scoring dog in the December 2019 36×85 Fast & Fun league plays for Dog Ranch Inc out of North Gower, Ontario, Canada. Aiden, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever handled by Marko Agterberg posted the best score. Aiden and Marko finished this course with zero faults in 28.3 seconds:

First-Place Team

Dog Ranch Inc out of North Gower, Ontario, Canada managed a convincing win in the December competition. The Dog Ranch team finishes in second place in the Fall series, only nine performance points behind the first-place team.

The top scoring dog for this team has been featured as Top Dog. The second highest scoring dog for Dog Ranch was Dante, a German Shorthaired Pointer handled by Gail Docherty. Dante and Gail finished this course with zero faults in 31.7 seconds:

Second Place Team

Country Dream Agility in Waterford, Ohio finished the December competition in second place. The top scoring dog for country dream was Kory, a Border Collie handled by Bud Houston. Kory and Bud finished the course with zero faults in 30.77 seconds:

Sport Dogs Jalisco in Guadalajara, Mexico finished December in third place. The top scoring dog for Sport Dogs was Broko, a Blue Heeler handled by Omar Alarcón. Broko finished with zero faults in 34.25 seconds:

The top scoring dog for Dirty Dogs Agility League in Parker, Colorado was Ollie, an English Shepard handled by Heather Cotterman finished this course with 5 faults in 31.5 seconds:

54×70 Games 2019 December Results

The final month of the NDAL 54×70 Games league, Fall series, featured a game called Lucky 13, designed by game master Dennis Vogel. Mr. Vogel has offered an apology for his choice of this game, given the exquisitely maddening demands of score-keeping imposed by the game.

The object of Lucky 13 is to collect as many points as possible while correctly performing a total of 13 obstacles – no more, no less – with the thirteenth obstacle being the tire. The course design is up to the handler. Each obstacle is assigned a value indicated by the cone next to it. Some obstacles may have two different point values indicated by the cones.

Scoring begins when the dog crosses the start line and ends at 55 seconds. Total game time stops when the dog goes on the table which is not counted as an obstacle.

General

If the dog correctly performs more than 13 obstacles (unique numbers), only the first 13 count for points;
Each obstacle done correctly over OR under incurs a special fault;
Each bi-directional obstacle (as indicated on the course map) may be done once in each direction for points. Each direction correctly performed will count as one of the thirteen obstacles (unique numbers) required.
Repeated obstacles (numbers) will not count for the obstacle count or assigned obstacle points;
The tire must be the thirteenth obstacle, performed in either direction, to avoid a special fault.
The table is live at all times and stops the clock. No specific position is required on the table to stop the clock.

Notes on faulted obstacles:

Each faulted obstacle incurs 5 faults (missed contacts, knocked bars, etc.) and there is no failure to perform faults;
A faulted obstacle is not included in the count of 13 obstacles to be performed; and may not be repeated for points.

Notes on special faults ~ Ten point faults assessed for:

Each obstacle more or less than the required 13, and;
The tire not being the thirteenth obstacle.

Lucky 13 is scored Points, Less Faults, Then Time. The dog with the most points is the winner. Time is a tie-breaker only.

Country Dream Agility Wins the Fall 2019 54×70 Games League

Country Dream Agility out of Waterford, Ohio won each month of the Fall series, and so wins the Fall series in convincing fashion. Congratulations Country Dream Agility!

Top Dog

The Top Dog in the December 54×70 games league represented K9 Manners & More out of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The Top Dog honors were won by Hotch, a Border Collie handled by Frances Scriminger. Hotch and Frances finished the game scoring 182 points (the maximum possible) in 25.99 seconds:

First Place Team

Country Dream Agility in Waterford, Ohio earned a solid win in December, taking four of the top five placements. The top scoring dog for Country Dreams was Phoenix, a Border Collie handled by Bud Houston. Phoenix and Bud finished the game with 182 points in 30.09 seconds:

Second Place Team

K9 Manners & More out of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma finished in second place in the December Games competition, narrowly out of first place. The top scoring dog for this club has already been featured. The second highest scoring dog for K9 Manners was Picket, a Miniature Poodle handled by Rebecca Reordan. Picket and Rebecca finished the game with 182 points in 33.15 seconds:

Third Place Team

All Breed Training Club Of Akron (out of Tallmadge, Ohio) managed a third place finish in December. The stop scoring dog for ABTC was Shelby, an Aussie handled by Steve Bagstad. Shelby and Steve finished the game with 180 points in 25.03 seconds:

Worth Watching

Agility Dream Dogs out of Albion, New York finished fourth in the December game, but managed a third-place finish in the Fall series. The top scoring dog for Dream Dogs was Bebe, an Australian Cattle Dog handled by Michael Hughson. Bebe and Michael finished the game with 181 points in 21.93 seconds:

The top scoring dog for Sport Dogs Jalisco out of Guadalajara, Mexico was Cody, a Bichon handled by Maria Elena Perez. Cody and Maria Elena finished the game with 172 points in 42.18 seconds:

Clermont County All Breed All Stars Wins Fall 60×90 Masters Series

Clermont County has posted a convincing win of the NDAL Masters Fall series. The club won all three months of the series, and each of those in convincing fashion. In the December competition Clermont County posted eight of the top ten performances. Congratulations Clermont County!

Top Dog

The Top Dog in the final month of the 60×90 Masters Fall series plays for Clermont County All Breed All Stars. Meherah, a Border Collie handled by Daelyn Grome won Top Dog honors. Meherah and Daelyn finished this course with zero faults in 31.06 seconds:

First Place Team

Clermont County All Breed All Stars, the team in Milford, Ohio had a convincing win in December, taking 8 of the top 10 placements.

As the top scoring dog for Clermont County has already been accounted for as Top Dog, the second place Clermont County dog, and second place overall was Oreo, a Border Collie handled by Daelyn Grome. Oreo and Daelyn finished this course with zero faults in 31.45 seconds:

Second Place Team

Jumpin’ K-9’s out of Temecula, California finished in second place in December with a strong showing that moves them up to finish second in the series. The top scoring dog for Jumpin’ K-9’s was Xena, an Australian Cattle Dog handled by Althea Roman. Xena and Althea finished this course with zero faults in 32.97 seconds:

Third Place Team

POTC Thunder Pawz in Brimfield, Illinois had a strong showing in December, taking third place for the month. Their performance moved the team up to fourth place in the Fall series. The top scoring dog for Thunder Paws was Swiper, an All American handled by Cindy Snowden. Swiper and Cindy finished this course with zero faults in 34.99 seconds:

Fourth Place Team

Lucky Dog Agility in Winterville, Georgia finished in fourth place finish in December, but held on to third place in the Fall series. The top scoring dog for Lucky Dog was Knox, a Border Collie handled by Brad Baxter. Knox and Brad finished the course with zero faults in 37.71 seconds:

The top scoring dog for Country Dream Agility in Waterford, Ohio was Phoenix, a Border Collie handled by Bud Houston. Phoenix finished with zero 38.84 seconds:

Clermont County All Breed All Stars League Winners

With a strong showing in December Clermont County overcame moved out of second place into first, to win the Winter 50×70 Fast & Fun Series. Congratulations Clermont County All-Breed All Stars!

Top Dog

Representing Agility Dream Dogs out of Albion, New York, the top scoring dog in the December 2019 50×70 Fast & Fun league was Gracie, a Border Collie handled by Gary McCarthy. Gracie and Gary finished the course with zero faults in 24.93 seconds.

Agility Dream Dogs was unable to post a YouTube video of Gracie’s performance.

First-Place Team

Clermont County All Breed All Stars out of Milford, Ohio earned the first-place finish in the December league. The top scoring dog for Clermont County was Meherah, a Border Collie handled by Daelyn Grome. Meherah and Daelyn wound up in third place among all dogs in December, finishoing this course with zero faults in 26.19 seconds:

Note that team scores are derived from LPP earned by the top five dogs in the team. Clermont County posted five of the top ten scores for the month, which accounts for the win.

Second-Place Team

Agility Dream Dogs out of Albion, New York finished in second place in December, and surrendered their lead in the Fall series to finish in second place. As the Top Dog has already been recognized, the fourth-place dog overall also represented Agility Dream Dogs. Bebe, an Australian Cattle Dog handled by Michael Hughson, finished this course with zero faults in 26.59 seconds:

Third-Place Team

Finishing third in December in the 50×70 Fast & Fun league was AQ4U’s Fast & Furryous out of Brooks, Kentucky. AQ4U finishes the Fall series in third place. The top scoring dog for AQ4U was Legend, a Shetland Sheepdog handled by Lydia Robbins. Legend and Lydia placed second overall in December, finishing this course with zero faults in 25.4 seconds:

The top scoring dog for K9 Powersports in Grand Junction, Colorado was Clover, an All American handled by Nancy Eaton. Clover and Nancy finished this course with zero faults in 29.83 seconds:

The top scoring dog for Cloud Nine in Maple Grove, Minnesota was Guppy, a Brussels Griffon handled by Kelly McFaul-Solem. Guppy and Kelly finished the course with zero faults in 30.97 seconds:

The top scoring dog for K9 Manners & More in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Zuko, a Shetland Sheepdog handled by Christina Hatchett. Zuko and Christina finished the course with zero faults in 31.99 seconds. No video available.
