November 2019 NDAL League Courses

Following is a preview of the November 2019 courses and games for NDAL league play. November is the second month of the Fall series.

54X70 Games

The November game for the 54×70 Games league is a game called Puppy Cannon.

Briefing

The objective of Puppy Cannon is for the dog to do three of the numbered sequences shown on the course map. The sequences can be taken in any order. The dog starts on the table and must begin with the pipe tunnel (the Puppy Cannon) before the performance of each of the three sequences.

Each sequence is bi-directional and all obstacles within the sequence are bi-directional.

After the final sequence the dog can go directly to the table to stop time or transition through the pipe tunnel (without penalty) to get to the table.

Note that the table is not “live” for ending time until the final sequence has been completed. A dog getting on the table before it is live, would be deemed a wrong course (5 faults).

Scoring

Puppy Cannon is scored Time, Plus Faults. The dog with the lowest score wins.

50×70 Fast & Fun

The November game for the 50×70 Fast & Fun league is a numbered course.

Top Dog

The top scoring dog in the September 2019 36×85 Fast & Fun league plays for Sport Dogs Jalisco out of Guadalajara, Mexico.

Scarlett, a Border Collie handled by Gabriela Orozco. Scarlett and Gaby finished this course with zero faults in 25.23 seconds:

First Place Team

Sport Dogs Jalisco out of Guadalajara, Mexico moved from third-place to first with a solid win in September. The second-place dog in September also plays for Sport Dogs Jalisco.

Twister, a Border Collie handled by Gabriela Orozco, finished this course with zero faults in 26.62 seconds:

Second Place Team

Country Dream Agility in Waterford, Ohio again managed second place in September, and finish the Summer series in second-place. The top scoring dog for Country Dream was Kory, a Border Collie handled by Bud Houston. Kory and Bud finished this course with zero faults in 32.4 seconds:

Third Place Team

Dirty Dogs Agility League out of Parker, Colorado placed third in the September competition, and finishes the Summer series in third-place.

The top scoring dog for Dirty Dogs in August was Ollie, an English Shepard handled by Heather Cotterman. Ollie and Heather finished this course with zero faults in 35.76 seconds:

All income for NDAL league play in October will be going to two charities that are engaged in helping survivors of Hurricane Dorian in The Bahamas. We have specifically selected Chef Jose Andre’s World Central Kitchen, and the Red Cross. People in The Bahamas are suffering from this terrible disaster. And we would like to do our small part to help.

Top Dog

The Top Dog in the final month of the 60×90 Masters Summer series plays for Clermont County All Breed All Stars, out of Milford, Ohio.

Meherah, a Border Collie handled by Daelyn Grome finished this course with zero faults in 32.57 seconds:

First Place Team

Clermont County All Breed All Stars, the team in Milford, Ohio finished the series with a convincing win in September.

The second-place dog in September also plays for Clermont County. Hooker, a Golden Retriever handled by Linda Setters finished this course with zero faults in 33.44 seconds:

Second Place Team

POTC Thunder Pawz out of Brimfield, Illinois had a great showing in September, finishing in second-place for the month, and moving into third‑place in the Summer series.

The top scoring dog for Thunder Pawz was Swiper, an All American handled by Cindy Snowden. Swiper and Cindy finished this course with zero faults in 36.32 seconds:

Third Place Team

K9 Powersports out of Grand Junction, Colorado had a strong showing in September, placing third overall and holding on to a second-place finish for the Series.

The top scoring dog for K9 Powersports was Clover, an All American handled by Nancy Eaton. Clover and Nancy finished this course with zero faults in 40.29 seconds:

Top Dog

Representing Sport Dogs Jalisco out of Guadalajara, Mexico, the top scoring dog in the September 2019 50×70 Fast & Fun league was Twister, a Border Collie handled by Antonio Nolasco. Twister and Antonio finished this course with zero faults in 32.22 seconds:

First Place Team

Clermont County All Breed All Stars out of Milford, Ohio finished in first place in September by a slim 2-point margin, and so managed to hold on to win the 50×70 Fast & Fun Summer series.

The top scoring dog for Clermont County was Meherah, a Border Collie handled by Daelyn Grome. Meherah and Daelyn finished the course with zero faults in 32.68 seconds:

Second Place Team

Sport Dogs Jalisco in Guadalajara, Mexico earned the second-place finish in September, and finished the Series in second-place.

As we’ve already featured Sport Dogs top scoring dog as the league Top Dog, we will share Sport Dogs #2 performance, finishing in second-place overall: Scarlett, a Border Collie handled by Gabriela Orozco finished the course with zero faults in 32.45 seconds:

Third Place Team

AQ4U’s Fast & Furryous out of Brooks, Kentucky finished in third-place in September and move up to third-place in the Summer series.

The top scoring dog for AQ4U was Blade, a Border Collie handled by Brian Wakefield. Blade and Brian finished this course with zero faults in 32.82 seconds:

Fourth Place Team

Agility Dream Dogs out of Albion, New York finished in fourth-place in September, and in fifth-place in the Summer series.

The top scoring dog for Agility Dream Dogs Chase, a Sheltie handled by Lydia Hofmann. Chase and Lydia finished this course with zero faults in 35.7 seconds:

54×70 Games 2019 September Results

The final month of the NDAL 54×70 Games league, Summer series, featured a game called Double Joker, designed by Bud Houston.

This game is like a Gamblers class. Obstacles are performed in the order and direction of the dog’s choosing, and there is a distance challenge. There are no restrictions as to order and direction and, indeed, even the number of times a dog might do an obstacle.

Back-to-back performance of any obstacle during the point-accumulation period is permitted. Indeed, the dog may perform the same obstacle for the entire period. This is known as the Koukkari Strategy.

The distance challenge may be done at any time, and may be repeated.

The handler may double any points the dog earns by having at least one foot on a portable “base”. This could be a pillow, a paper plate, a bit of carpet or whatever is convenient. The handler may preposition the base before starting the dog, or may carry it with and place it at a strategic moment. And the handler might move it to place somewhere else.

Double Joker is scored Points, Then Time.

Club Report

Six active teams competed in the Summer Series. More clubs might play in this league… especially when they discover that the set of equipment in the 54×70 is always exactly as set in the 50×70; the only difference being that the 54×70 will feature some interesting game that demands cunning and guile.

Top Dog

The Top Dog in September, represented K9 Manners & More, out of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Hotch, a Border Collie handled by Frances Scriminger scored 104 points in 32.64 seconds:

First Place Team

K9 Manners & More, out of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma had a stunning finish in the September game. They not only won the month, but did so convincingly that the team moved from fourth place in the series to a first-place finish.

Well done, K9 Manners!

The second and third-place dogs also represented K9 Manners & More.

Meg, an Australian Shepherd handled by Judy Chymiak, finished the game with 104 points, in 33.55 seconds:

Flicka, a Border Collie handled by Frances Scriminger finished the game with 103 points, in 32.54 seconds:

Second Place Team

Country Dream, out of Waterford, Ohio finished second in the September game. With a strong showing in September, Country Dream moves up from third-place, to finish in second-place.

The top scoring dog for Country Dream was Kory, a Border Collie handled by Bud Houston. Kory and Bud finished the game with 98 points in 30.7 seconds:

Third Place Team

All Breed Training Club Of Akron finished September in third-place for the month, though they finished fifth in the Summer series.

The top scoring dog for ABTC of Akron was Savvy, a Toller handled by Cindy Fink. Savvy and Cindy finished the game with 58 points in 34.5 seconds:

Fourth Place Team

Sport Dogs Jalisco, out of Guadalajara, Mexico, struggled a bit with this distance game, dropping from first-place in August, to fourth place in September, finishing the Summer series in third place.

The top scoring dog for Sport Dogs Jalisco was Lyla, a Border Collie handled by Iyali Hernández. Lyla and Iyali finished the game with 45 points, in 36.25 seconds:
