A System of Titling for the IDAL

This model differs from the traditional agility organizations; most of which are roughly the same system. The traditional model is based on a mixture of competitive obedience and equestrian sports.

IDAL games and courses have no “qualifying criteria.” The IDAL dog in competition is measured against the field of competitors, rather than against a defined standard for performance. This measurement is implicit in the accrual of Lifetime Performance Points (LPP).

LPP is literally a count of dogs with a lesser score in a competition. If 10 dogs play a game, then the first-place dog will earn 10 LPP… the last place dog will earn a single LPP. A dog that earns a score of “E” (Elimination) will earn a single point for having played the game.
