June 2021 50×70 Fast and Fun Results

The end of June brings a close to the Spring season for the league. Here are the results for the 50×70 Fast & Fun League. Six clubs have reported results for this league.

We have been using “historical” courses for a while now due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These are courses that have been played before. The efforts of dogs playing in June earn Lifetime Performance Points (LPP) based on the entire field of dogs who have competed on the course, including historical performances. The LPP is a measure of rank based on how they placed in relation to all the other dogs.

June 2021 60×90 Masters Results

We have reached the end of the spring season. This post is for the results of the 60×90 Masters League. Four clubs have reported results for this League for June. The top four scores are really close this month!

We have been using “historical” courses for a while now due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These are courses that have been played before. The efforts of dogs playing in June earn Lifetime Performance Points (LPP) based on the entire field of dogs who have competed on the course, including historical performances. Top Dog

The Top Dog of all the clubs reporting in June is from the third-place team, Jumping C Crew out of Exeter, California. Alaska, an Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog handled by Liz Clements, took first place this month. They finished this course with zero faults in 32.96 seconds.

The Top Dog from 2017 was Gemma, a Border Collie handled by Susan Dawson. They represented United Colors of Agility in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. They completed the course with zero faults in a whooping 25.73 seconds. You gotta take a look!

In truth, I really do not think these two dogs can be compared. They represent completely different body structures which impact their physical abilities. The dog that came closest to that time was Trebuchet the Papillon in 28.41.

Unfortunately, she earned 5 faults for a dropped bar. Structurally, though, this Papillon is closer to the Border Collie than the Stumpy Tail. Hmm… I wonder if anyone in the past tried to score dogs based on body types?

First-Place Team – 713 LPP

The first-place team in June was Jumpin’ K-9’s out of Temecula, California. Their top dog was Tilly, an Australian Shepherd handled by Kaye Fitzpatrick. They had 0 faults and a time of 35.06 seconds.

Second-Place Team – 611 LPP

Jumping C Crew out of Exeter, California was our second-place team. The top scoring dog for was Alaska, this month’s Top Dog. Alaska had 0 faults and a time of 32.96 seconds.

Third-Place Team – 592 LPP

K9 Powersports out of Grand Junction, Colorado. Trebuchet took their top spot. She is a Papillon handled by Geog Teare. They finished this course with 5 faults in 28.41 seconds.

Fourth-Place Team – 589 LPP

POTC Thunder Pawz out of Brimfield, Illinois was our fourth-place team this month. Nokona, a Labrador Retriever, topped their roster. Nokona and Katie Middleton finished this course with zero faults 38.9 seconds. Unfortunately, the video is marked as private.

July 2021 IDAL Courses

Featured

The following courses are for July 2021 IDAL play. This month we are running a few new courses after taking a long break in new designs because COVID-19 restricted play. The courses were initially inspired by the letter “E” from Nancy Gyse’s book Alphabet Drills, published in 2011 by Clean Run. I set up the letter for my beginner and intermediate students using different numbering based on each student’s skill. Interestingly, as I looked up the publication date for this blog, I flipped to the letter “E” and saw that she had also changed the exercise by adding a tunnel. You know what they say about brilliant minds!

PLEASE note that the courses are anchored at the bottom left of the ring rather than at the center baseline. I did this so that clubs running the 36×85 can simply add the weave poles, if they have room, to run the other leagues.

This is also the first month of the summer season. I hope our Northern folks get to have some fun! PAWS4FUN is rejoining us from Ontario, Canada. Welcome back! Anyone else coming back?
