December 2021 60×90 Masters Results

This post is for the results of the 60×90 Masters League. Two teams ran this month. Jumpin’ K-9’s made my brain hurt! Unfortunately, they ran the course incorrectly… I was first clued in by an astute viewer who pointed out that #7 was a backside and the Jumpin’ K-9’s had taken it as a straight on approach. I had not noticed this. Upon looking closer at the videos, I noticed that Jumpin’ K-9’s had basically run the mirror image of the course plus the wrong direction on 7. Gee, how do we score that? Hence, the brain pain!

Fortunately, Kayla’s design was easily run as a mirror image. I did a quick review of all Jumpin’ K-9’s videos against all the Jumping C Crew videos. I did a rough calculation of how long it took handlers to do the backside versus a straight approach starting from the landing of 6 to the takeoff of 8. Interestingly, all the times were between 4 and 5 seconds. Hmm… I might need to look at that more closely later.

To be fair to the team that ran the correct course, I applied faults to Jumpin’ K-9’s scores.

The 60×90 course was designed by Kayla Hartlage. Kayla was kind enough to send in a 60×90 Jumpers course that had some Premiere style elements. Kayla designed her course on paper and sent it in to me. I kept most of her challenges in there but obviously had to adjust for distances and such. THANKS, KAYLA!

If you would like to design courses for the league or learn how to design courses, give me a shout. I will add you to our group.

The efforts of dogs playing in December earn Lifetime Performance Points (LPP) based on the entire field of dogs who have competed on the course. The LPP is a measure of rank based on how they placed in relation to all the other dogs.

We are starting out the year with some changes. The seasons will be four months long and be distinct units rather than a year long. We also have some rules and titles changes and are introducing easier courses for our players at the Beginner/Intermediate levels. We will also be alternating with numbered/standard style courses and games. We hope you enjoy what the league has cooked up.
